Set up Time Machine for automatic backups
- [Narrator] The easiest way to backup the files on your Mac storage drive is by using a tool that comes with Mac Os called Time Machine. All you need is an external storage drive to store the backup. Now, I already have my external drive connected. We can see it here on the desktop, and if I open it, you can see that I do not have anything on this drive yet. It's best if you start with a completely empty drive for your backup and don't store anything else on it, and the very first time you connect an external drive to your Mac, you may see a notification asking you if you want to use that drive for a Time Machine backup, and you can click the setup button on that notification to get started. But, if you do not see that notification, maybe you dismissed the notification in the past, and you want to go back and do the setup now, that's fine. You can just go to system settings.
