Using Excel Solver to find solutions
- Solver is an Excel add-in that lets us solve a model by changing the input variables to optimize result. In order to run Solver in Excel, we need to have an objective value that we're trying to optimize. A value or values to use as variables. An objective defined model constraints. It's important to properly set up the calculations in Excel before running Solver. If the formulas aren't correct begin with in Excel, it's nearly impossible to get the correct results in Solver. If you don't already have Solver installed in your own Excel application, please check out the video in the introductory chapter where I walk through how to install and set it up in Excel. We can choose from three different solving methodologies in Solver. Simplex LP is for linear models, while Evolutionary and GRG Nonlinear are for non-linear models.
