Use data reduction for valuable insights
- [Helen] Do you often work with data sets so large that they can become difficult to analyze and gain insights from? Machine learning is a hot topic right now and you're probably wondering about how you can apply these algorithms to your own data. Data reduction refers to taking these large data sets and using models to reduce their data sets size and gain valuable insights from them. Models like clustering let us group data together in new ways that perhaps we haven't explored yet by numeric relationships between fields. And only detection algorithms let us find anomalies by transforming data sets to new dimensionalities. We'll talk about how distance and dimensionality are key components to various types of machine learning algorithms because they let us both group and separate points from each other. I'm Helen Wall and I work in the data science and business intelligence space. I love creating, building, and designing models like machine learning algorithms. Let's take a jump into the data reduction world and learn about how you can apply some of these fascinating models to your own data.
