- [Instructor] Mathematicians like to talk in their own language which can often sound like a foreign language to people around them and send them running from math. But don't worry, I'll simplify this basic concept so you can easily follow along. To deal with probability, we just have to learn a few basic concepts. Experiment, sample space, and event. What comes to your mind when you think of an experiment? Probably a chemistry teacher or assistant in a science laboratory conducting an experiment. The experiment is a test we want to perform in order to calculate the probability of each possible outcome. Famous examples of probability experiments are flipping a coin, rolling a die, and pulling a card from a deck of cards of cards.
