- [Instructor] Logistic regression is a terribly important topic, and certainly has gotten book-length treatment on numerous occasions, and there are university courses, both at the undergraduate level and at the graduate level, which dedicate an entire university semester to the topic. The reason it's important for us is to understand how logistic regression is different from ordinary least squares regression. Okay, the first thing we wanna understand is that SPSS supports two different kinds of logistic. Binary logistic, which is really the main one that I'm gonna be explaining here, and multinomial logistic, which is a somewhat younger technique, and is a way that you can tackle more than two categories. But the one that you're gonna encounter is almost always the binary kind, where what you're trying to predict has only two possible values. For instance, get heart disease, or not get heart disease.
