- [Instructor] There are numerous ways for getting a texture type effect in Illustrator. No one necessarily better than the other. It all depends on what it is you're after. So here I have black type on a texture image. With black type, my options for using blending modes will be limited. So the first thing I'm going to do is select the type and then come to the eyedropper tool and change the color. Choosing a color from the background itself. Now with the type still selected, I'll come to the transparency panel and we have all of these blending modes. My go to blending modes, tend to be multiply, color burn, overlay, and soft light, but it's really going to depend upon the context. You really have to try them to see if they're going to work and there's no right answer here. It just depends upon what you're after. And the colors of the selection that you are blending with.
