EVOC 20 PolySynth: Basic vocoder setup
- [Evan] Okay, so now we're going to talk about EVOC, that's the vocoder that's included in Logic. And I got to tell you, this is one heck of a good vocoder. It's a lot of fun, there are a lot of different things that you can do with it, so let's talk about how to set this thing up, first of all. For those of you who don't know, the way that a vocoder works is basically that it has an analysis signal that's coming in, typically some sort of speech sound or something like that if you're doing a vocal thing, and then there's a synthesizer that's being modulated, essentially, by that speech sound or whatever analysis signal is coming in. And it modulates the sound in a way that makes it sound like it's talking. It's actually really cool. When we first open up the vocoder, however, it's just a synthesizer. (chill synth music) But I guess me of all people, I shouldn't say just a synthesizer. But yes, it's a cool synthesizer, it sounds nice, it's got some different waves, we can stretch…
