- [Presenter] One of the most basic and most often overlooked aspects of securing a computer is physical security. This means looking after the security of the hardware of the machine itself and preventing it from being stolen, damaged, or improperly accessed by someone who can get their actual hands on the actual computer. There are a few different threat models to think about when it comes to physical security. The first is theft of or damage to the hardware. If someone can get to and touch our computer or our server or whatever hardware it is, we're trying to keep safe, they could cause physical damage to it or steal it and try to sell it or something like that. Or maybe some disaster befalls our building and the computer is damaged or destroyed through no person's actions. In these scenarios, we'll not only be without our hardware, but our data could be at risk of loss or compromise as well.
