Hello, and welcome to Cybrary's Linux Hardening course. This lesson is CIS Benchmarks. I am your instructor, Corey Holzer. After this lesson, you will be able to describe the role of the Center of Internet Security and articulate the goals and purposes of CIS Benchmarks. The Center of Internet Security, or CIS, is a standards body that collects practices from the security community. CIS and the members of the community identify best practices and provide those best practices back to the community at large for their knowledge and for employment. CIS provides best practices for multiple operating systems, including Linux, Windows, and others. As mentioned on the last slide, CIS provides these best practices for multiple operating systems. The benchmarks included in this publication are vetted during a review process. The goal of the published benchmarks is to improve security.
