Hello, and welcome to Cybrary's Linux Hardening course, and this lesson, which covers lifecycle management. I'm your instructor, Corey Holzer. The key objectives in this lesson are sharing knowledge you need in order to explain how to prepare hosts for lifecycle retirement, and why these measures are so important when it comes to the security of your network. Over time, a workstation or server will become obsolete or its resources insufficient to meet the growing demands of the user. Therefore, it benefits the owner to replace older assets with new ones. Many companies will lease their workstations and servers for this reason. When the lease is over, they find it fiscally beneficial to lease new workstations with the benefit of increased capacities versus keeping the old equipment and trying to upgrade it.
