Discover the power of Linux desktops and remote access

- [Grant] It's no secret that Linux is one of the most popular server operating systems in the world. It is also the operating system for most home networking devices and the most popular mobile devices. But did you know that Linux is also a fantastic desktop operating system? The Linux GUI provides unmatched power, configurability, and choice. Linux is even the foundation that Valve SteamOS gaming platform is based on. The Linux software repositories are chock full of professional graphical applications, such as Open Broadcast Studio and DaVinci Resolve. In this course, you'll learn about the Linux graphical interface and peel back its many layers. You'll learn about the history of its GUI and understand why it wasn't a popular multimedia or gaming OS in the past, and why that's changing. You'll learn to install and configure various Linux desktop environments, such as KDE, GNOME3, and Cinnamon. In this course, you'll also learn about remote desktop access using Linux as both a client and the server. My name is Grant McWilliams and I've been using the Linux GUI for decades. It's an exciting time to learn about the monumental changes to it. So let's get into it.
