Backing up data
- [Instructor] It's always important to have a backup of your important data, just in case something happens to your computer. I'll open the activity view here and search for the Backups app and then I'll click on it. I have my external flash drive plugged into my PC here. And for this video, I'll use that as my backup drive. If you have a network file server, you can use that as well. The backup needs to be stored inside of a folder whether it's on a disc or a file share. To get started, I'll click this green button here to create my first backup. Here, I'm prompted to select what to back up. My home directory is already selected here and that's a reasonable thing to have a regular backup of. I can also add other directories here too. Below that, there's a list of exclusions, that is folders that specifically will be ignored. The trash, for example, is something we may not want to back up. And the Downloads…
