- Let's try a practice. I want to give you the opportunity to identify what equal ground feels like. But first, let's start with this. What does it feel like in your body when you feel less than? Maybe you feel small or powerless or voiceless? And what about when you feel greater than? Maybe you puff up or you feel armored, or have the feeling of literally looking down your nose? Now what about when you put yourself on equal ground with someone else? What does it feel like to hold yourself as the same or as equal to another person? Maybe you feel your spine straighten or your legs feel more solid. Sometimes my clients report feeling more firm while also being engaged and receptive. I'm asking you what these stances feel like because they play an important role in whether or not you're likely to recognize respect and express a need you have.
