Login to SharePoint
- [Instructor] I want to log into SharePoint, and there are so many ways that I can do so. First, if I've been using SharePoint previously and I fire up the browser where I've used SharePoint, then SharePoint may well show up on my list of top sites or frequently used sites. Another possibility is that in the browser or browsers that I use, I could add my SharePoint site to Favorites. And if I do, then it will be on my list of Favorites. SharePoint is part of Microsoft Office 365. Therefore, if I am logged into Office 365, I can fire up SharePoint from right here in the list of apps on the homepage for Office. Or anywhere I see the app launcher or waffle, I can click and choose SharePoint from here. Another possibility is that someone has sent me a document with a link to SharePoint. Here I am in Outlook, and a few days ago I sent myself a link so I could show it to you right now. This is a link to a document. I have a little text, but I'm simply going to click the Open button. And I will go not just to SharePoint, but directly to this document in SharePoint. And here's SharePoint opening Word Online. And here I am in my document in SharePoint. If I wish, I can go to that document's library or that document's site simply by using the breadcrumbs to get there. So if I wondered where this document was stored, not hard to get to the site that houses this particular document. Yet another way to go to SharePoint then is to click a link to any of the documents that are listed here on my Office 365 homepage because all of these documents will behave in exactly the same way. They will take me directly to that document in SharePoint. And to go to a specific site and open that file's location, rather than clicking the tile, I can click the link. Yet another possibility is to go to a site through Outlook. If I scroll down to the bottom of my list in the navigation pane, I see groups. These groups are Office 365 groups, and each of these groups has a site. I can go to the group here. And if I want to go to this particular site, note that I have Email, Calendar, and Files. And those files are stored in SharePoint, so I can get to SharePoint from here as well. Typically, I'll create Office 365 groups with their corresponding sites for ad hoc projects, for example, or for groups within my department.
