- SAP Sales and Distribution, commonly called SAP SD, is the key module that handles the selling, the distribution, and the billing for our company's products and services. With the move to S/4HANA, SAP SD functions are now encompassed within the SAP S/4HANA Sales line of business. Let's take a look at these processes from a high level so we can see how the pieces all fit together. Before we get into our sales process, we have to talk about master data. In SAP, our master data is centrally located and rarely changes. All transactions in SAP rely on accurate master data, and our transactions in the Sales and Distribution module are no different. First are material masters. Material masters house the details of the good or service we're selling, like size, weight, and description. Next are what SAP calls business partners.
