- [Instructor] In this video, we'll cover a fundamental skill, and that is object selection. Before we can modify anything, we need to be able to select it efficiently. So let's demonstrate by opening up a floor plan. I'm going to come over here to the floor plans branch, and double click the L4 floor plan, and then put my mouse here in the lower right hand corner and roll the wheel a few clicks to zoom in on that location. So let's start with pre-selection. Before you select something, you can simply move your mouse over it and it will highlight on screen. A tool tip will appear next to your cursor, and that same message will also appear on the status bar at the lower left hand corner of the screen. Now this is not yet selection. If I move my mouse away from the highlighted object, it will de-highlight it without making the selection. Let's move next to this door item. Notice the tool tip changes.
