All right having added our color grading and having added the subject to the scene, let's now apply our lights. First of all let's add a shadow to the monolith. Selecting it, come to the FX, the layer effects and add a drop shadow. I'll just accept whatever these settings are because the next thing I want to do is separate the shadow from the layer by right-clicking on the FX badge and choosing create layer. Making sure that I have that layer selected, command or ctrl T, transform it and if you need to distort it hold down the command or the control key on Windows. Pull that into shape. And if you need to change the opacity, you can do that with the Fill Opacity slider. Coming to the top of my layer stack, I will add a new empty layer, choose the Polygonal Lasso tool, draw myself a triangular shape from the top. This is the shaft of light coming down from the sky.
