Using a firewall
- [Instructor] Another tool to fight the bad guys is a firewall. It works to monitor and regulate traffic between your computer and the internet. The firewall ensures that information coming in was asked for, and that information going out has permission to leave. The process isn't noticeable until something unexpected happens to access your computer or the internet. Then you can choose whether to grant or deny permission. That's the point of a firewall. To review the Windows Firewall settings, open the Windows Security Center. Tap the Windows key on the keyboard, type, "Security," and choose this item, Windows Security. Choose Firewall & network protection. Yes, even though your network may have a router with its own firewall, do not disable any of these items. They're all set on by default.
