Creating your story
- [Narrator] As the licensing landscape becomes more competitive, it's more important than ever to communicate the art of story to the music supervisor and the buyer. All things being equal, if a music supervisor has three great songs to choose from for a scene, they're going to go with the song or artist that has a story. What do I mean by a story? It's the background of the artist. Something, hopefully compelling that will make the music supervisor production company look pretty cool if the user saw them, and make them feel like they've found a new, up and coming artist. The elements of an artist's story should include tour dates and festivals, social media presence, the number of Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook followers, if it's impressive. Past film, T.V., ad and video game and trailer placements. The number of streams and downloads, if it's impressive. Perhaps you have 5,000 followers or 10,000 Instagram followers for an artist that's been around for less than a year…
