- So now that you have an overview of Main Stage, I want to show you how you can use it during an actual performance. I'm going to play you an excerpt of my original song, Joni using some of the really cool functionality of the program to spice it up. Namely keyboard splits, bypasses, and the playback plugin, a big part of maximizing Main Stage is to reverse engineer your performance. You need to figure out what section of a song you're going to use a particular instrument or effect, and then construct your entire concert around that moment. You'll see that's informed a lot of my choices here with Joni. Let's take a look at this concept before I start performing so I can highlight some of the cool things I'm doing. You'll see I'm using a total of eight instrument channel strips, three of which are instances of the playback plugin.
