- I want to leave you with a few parting thoughts. Setting type on the web and mobile devices is very similar to print but pay attention to a few things. One, thing big. Set things bigger than print. For small type, use fonts that are designed for the web not just print. Georgia and Verdana are excellent. Two, relax your spacing. Give your type a little more word, letter and line spacing. Three, watch your line lengths. Short is good. Don't exceed about 55 characters. Over-long lines on the web are so easy to make but impossible to read. And, four, align left only. Do not justify your type. The web has no real controls for word and letter spacing which are essential to good justified type.
