- [Instructor] Earlier in this chapter, we used linear regression to examine two sets of data: an independent variable, the number of customers; and a dependent variable, sales for the day; which we believed was influenced at least in part by the number of customers. In this movie, I will show you how to perform a similar analysis using two independent variables and how they affect sales, which, again, is our dependent variable. My sample file is 08_05_Multiple, and you can find it in the chapter eight folder of the exercise files collection. The dataset that I'm working with is very similar to what I used before. I have customers in column A and sales in column C, but I have also assumed that we mailed out postcards to people in our neighborhood, and I want to see using multiple regression, whether or not the number of postcards also influenced sales based on the number of customers.
