Core steps of estimating

- [Host] There are a few distinct steps an estimator takes when creating an estimate. You're going to hear these terms a lot in this course. Let's examine them. The first step is the takeoff. Takeoff is the process of counting, measuring or otherwise extracting data from the contract documents in order to quantify it and cost it. The extension process of the estimate is the next step. This is the process of calculating all of the takeoff items into meaningful financial data. This is also done on the takeoff sheet. It's a lot of adding and multiplying. The recap or recapitulation of an estimate is the final summary math that adds all of the financial calculations or extensions together to ultimately derive an overall price.
