Using dialog boxes and palettes in AutoCAD
- [Instructor] We're staying in our interface.dwg file. And I'm going to take you through some of the more fundamental tools that you'll be using in AutoCAD on a day-to-day basis. And they are dialog boxes and palettes. Now, most Windows-based applications use dialog boxes. They pop up on the screen when you execute a command. And you normally put in variables, numbers, inputs for that particular command. Now, AutoCAD uses dialog boxes just like any other Windows-based application, but it also uses palettes. Now, palettes are a slightly more sophisticated and more versatile method of inputting the same data and variables for a command. But they're very useful in AutoCAD because they allow you to set multiple settings and multiple functions within the palette as well. So what I'm going to do, I'm going to use the same command workflow to demonstrate both dialog boxes and palettes. Now we're going to look at the palette first.
