How you show up is how they will show up. This is informed by self-awareness, which is what we just reviewed in understanding the type of leader you are. Your leadership style is informed by your strengths, values, traits you'd like to emulate, and feedback from others. As originally defined in the book, Primal Leadership: Unleashing the Power of Emotional Intelligence, the six emotionally intelligent leadership styles are: Visionary, Coaching, Affiliative, Democratic, Pacesetting, and Command. I want to explain my interpretation of the author's listed styles and provide examples of leaders who use these styles to their advantage. Visionary leaders articulate their ideas and passionately encourage others to figure out how to achieve them. They anticipate risks and challenges while maintaining strategic focus and vision to inspire others toward the desired results.
