- Disagreeable people. Every team has one. But the question is, as a leader, what can we do to persuade them? It can be challenging, but it's doable. Let's talk about how you can lead the difficult people on your team in spite of their particular challenges. First off, let's clarify what it means to be low in agreeableness. Disagreeable people tend not to care whether or not you like them. If they hold an unpopular position or they disagree with you, you're going to hear about it, which isn't a bad thing. The challenge is that they might deliver the message in a way that is abrasive. We can describe them as prickly people. They're not naturally nice or friendly, and they tend to be suspicious and pessimistic. For you as a leader, it's important to manage your own expectations for how much time and effort it will take to persuade disagreeable people.
