How to get the most out of your learning journey

- You're about to embark on a learning journey to expand and upgrade your skills as a learning and development leader. The question is, how will you get the most value out of this journey? Well, you're in command. While we've laid out the structure of this journey quite deliberately, so that each video and chapter leads to the next, you'll likely want to go deeper on some of these topics. So here's my step-by-step recommendation for how to navigate through the course and get the most value out of your journey. Step one, watch each video. Each one will provide you with an overview and an essential skill, and occasionally a story from my own experience as an L&D leader that tells a tale of applying that skill to solve real-world problems. Step two, download the exercise file and complete the skills gap analysis and learning priority grid you'll find for each video. Assess your skill level. Are you a novice with limited experience and apprentice requiring further learning and development? Or are you already a master of the skill? Then assess your learning priority from a personal, organizational, and career perspective. Step three, complete the scenario challenge to practice what you've learned in the video. Each scenario challenge also includes a sample completed exercise so you can check your work. Step four, review the recommended deeper dive LinkedIn Learning courses listed in the exercise file and chart your ongoing learning journey by bookmarking the courses that will help you close the skills gaps you've identified. To plan for the completion of these courses, you can put the enrollment and completion dates right in your calendar. And finally, step five, proceed to the next video until you've earned your certificate for this course. That's it. I've included a detailed summary of these steps in the exercise file for your ongoing reference. And along the way, please use the Q&A function on this course's page on LinkedIn Learning to communicate with me and your fellow learners. And if you're on a browser, use the Notes function to capture your key insights and learnings. Now, let's embark together on your learning journey.
