Using components and labels
Aside from organizing work into different projects and using epics and versions, there are a couple of other key ways to categorize work in JIRA. Components and Labels. Components in JIRA represent some logical, usually permanent subset of your work or product. In projects tracking some technology effort, they usually reflect some quasi-independent part of the technology product. For instance, a project tracking the development of a software application that's being made to run on multiple devices might have a component to reflect the iPhone user interface, the Android user interface, and the web browser user interface. Components are only present in company managed projects in JIRA, but they can be created in business project templates as well as software template projects. Components in JIRA can have a lead assigned to them, And when you map an issue to a component, that lead can be defaulted as the assignee. A given issue can be assigned to one or more components.
