Understanding factors to help choose a feature

Sometimes in JIRA, the place you need to go, the feature you need to leverage for a certain function is a no-brainer. We need a place for our team to update status of issues daily. Well, that's the whole purpose of a project board in JIRA. That's where you do that. But other times, you may have a need where things aren't so clear. A management group wants information about what's being worked on for multiple projects in your department? Well, that could be a multi-project custom board, or a dashboard, or maybe in certain cases, even a saved issue filter. So, which to try? Here are some factors to consider based on what you're being asked to provide. Obviously, consider the purpose. Ask questions if you need to. For instance, in the case of our management team, are they wanting to know what's currently being worked on, just to to stay informed, or are they worried about something specific?
