Creating projects

Creating projects in JIRA is easy, but there are a few choices to make that can impact how much configuration you need to do after project creation. JIRA gives you two ways to create projects, from a project template or by cloning an existing project. Project templates in JIRA give you some starting configuration, like what kind of issue types you have and what kind of workflow you begin with. In Jira Cloud, there are a ton of project templates. In Jira Data Center, not so many. We'll create three projects from templates in this lesson and see some of the things the templates set you up with at project creation time. Although it can take some time to learn what the various templates bring to the table, choosing one that's closest to what you ultimately need will save you customization time later.
