In this segment, we'll cover a few simple steps you can take to help secure wireless transmissions. Let's start by providing an explanation of a wireless network and some of the components required for all devices to communicate. Now, here we see a local area network, which could be a home or office. When using a wireless network, a wireless station is a device such as a laptop, phone, or access point that can communicate with other stations. Wireless devices use the protocol 802.11, which has several versions that include G, N, and AC. An access point is a station that typically has a cable connected to an existing network.
