System, storage, and communication protection

- [Instructor] Welcome to this lesson on system, storage, and communication protection. In this relatively short lesson, we are just going to talk about some key components of system protection, as well as some reference frameworks. So getting into it, the overarching theme here of this type of component protection should start with breaking systems into components for manageable security application. So some of these components can potentially include operational technology, or OT, storage media, and communication pathways. A framework that you should be familiar with, specifically when it comes to system protection, is going to be the NIST SP 800-53, Section 3.18. This is specifically a guideline for systems and communications risks. Some of the key controls within this framework start with policy and procedure generation to make sure that we're applying well-established and consistent procedures across different departments and tasks within an organization.
