Privacy in the cloud, part 1
- [Instructor] Welcome to this lesson on privacy in the cloud. We'll cover two key things in this lesson. The first is the difference between contractual and regulated private data, and then we'll touch on some country-specific legislation. Starting with contractual versus regulated private data, understanding the different types of data processed in a cloud environment is critical when it comes to compliance and security. Starting out with some sensitive data types, you've probably seen these before, but I'm going to cover them again just so they're fresh in your mind. The first is personally identifiable information or PII. This encompasses any information that can be used to identify an individual and is subject to both legal regulations and contractual obligations. PHI, or protected health information, is a subset of PII specific to the medical field. It's regulated under the HIPAA regulation, and there are specific safeguard requirement for PHI, documented within HIPAA. Finally…
