- [Instructor] Welcome to this lesson on business continuity and disaster recovery planning and testing. In this lesson, we're first going to talk about how to create a plan, and then we'll talk about implementation of that plan, and then finally, testing. When designing and planning for business continuity and disaster recovery, the first step is creating a business impact analysis or BIA, and this is an evaluation of essential assets and the consequences of disrupting those essential assets. So there's four basic steps in completing a business impact analysis. This starts by identifying assets that you have within your organization, and then once you've identified all of your assets, then you have to assess the impact of a loss of that asset, and then based on the level of impact that the loss of that asset would have on your organization, you then prioritize which assets should be most protected, which helps then create a plan for prioritization of the protection of those assets…
