- [Instructor] The next topic we're going to tackle is portfolio and project management. You've likely talked about projects before, so these are a series of tasks that work towards a common purpose, and they have a defined end state, whether that's an objective to achieve, whether that's a time period of execution, they are end-termed in nature. Versus a program, these are activities that continue indefinitely, which may encompass one or more projects. If they don't have a project, they likely have some sort of kind of, quote unquote, business-as-usual execution. And then a larger portfolio is a long-term program that's grouped with common characteristics, and the goal is to really optimize business value or create a greater degree of oversight under one accountable authority.
