- [Instructor] The Windows ecosystem has been offering IoT versions. Windows is known to work on laptops and it can also be tailored to run on embedded devices. In the past, there was Windows Embedded, rooted in the embedded version of Windows and later, Windows 10 IoT Core that supported the ARM and x86 platforms. Currently, Windows for IoT ecosystem offers Windows IoT Enterprise, Windows Server IoT, Windows 10 IoT Core, and Azure Sphere. Windows IoT Enterprise is offered for fixed-purpose devices, meaning its functionality may not be well suited for broader use cases. It shares the same binary as the standard Windows operating system. It provides manageability and security to IoT solutions and supports x86 or x64 processors from AMD and Intel and the Qualcomm and NXP processors that include ARM-based CPU cores.
