Weights
- [Instructor] In this session we'll take a look at weights and Stata. If you work with server data you'll most likely come across sampling weights at some point. Weights are variables that try to give certain observations more or less influence, often in an attempt to make your data look more like population level data. For example ethnic minorities or very large firm may often be under samples and surveys. So giving them more important makes sense. The great thing about Stata is that the majority of Stata commands allow you to specify weights. In this session we won't introduce any new commands, but amend previously learned commands to include weights. Instead of syntax, this is always done by specifying weight equals to something in square brackets, before the options are introduced, after the comma.
