Statistics for two categorical variables
- [Narrator] Tabulating two categorical variables against each other gives you an idea of how they are distributed and what their relationship might be. However, if you want to know whether this relationship is statistically significant, then you'll need to use statistical tests. Are women more likely to be left-handed than men? Does drug A improve health outcome B? Are foreign cars more likely to need repairs than domestic cars? In this session, we'll explore ways to compute such statistics including chi-square tests, Fisher's exact test, and other tests. We're not going to introduce any new commands in this session, as the previously introduced tabulate command has everything we need. We're going to focus on some of the options that are available with tabulate, which allow you to compute different measures of association for two-way tables.
