OLS regression diagnostics - Stata Tutorial
From the course: Introduction to Stata
OLS regression diagnostics
- [Instructor] In this session, we're going to explore some of the diagnostic capabilities that Stata provides for ordinary least squares regression models. You'll find that many of these capabilities are also replicated for other regression commands. We'll explore both visual diagnostic commands and statistical diagnostic commands. There are a lot of Stata commands that deal with regression postestimation and in this session we'll introduce a few of the important ones to examine concepts such as goodness-of-fit, collinearity, outliers, heteroscedasticity, and functional form. We'll introduce the following commands: predict, which allows us to make predictions from our model, rvfplot, which is short for residual versus variable plot and which allows us to examine how our errors are distributed versus our fitted values. We'll also introduce lvr2plot, which is short for leverage-versus-residual-squared plot and which allows us…
