Bar graphs and dot charts
- [Instructor] Bar graphs and dot charts are commonly used graphical representations of data. Bars or dots and their relative differences are used to visually display statistical differences such as frequencies between two categories or the mean value of another variable for each category. They offer an effective way to really advertise simple statistical properties between categories and variables, and offer a great counterpoint to big summary tables. In this session, I want to explore how to create bar graphs and dot charts in Stata. The commands I will use are the graph bar and the graph dot commands. However, this is one of the few occasions where I recommend using the graphical user interface first as opposed to the commands in texts.
