- Participating in social media is free, and you can build a following without spending money on advertising. But you'll find that if you want to use social media to grow beyond your core audience, you may need to pay. In this video I want to help you decide when to consider paying for social media marketing. Businesses can participate in social media by setting up a business profile or page and use that to interact with the users of the platform. For instance, you can set up a free business page on Facebook, which you can use to post news, information about new product launches, fun stuff your colleagues did, et cetera. And you can use the page as a hub to interact with customers via comments or Messenger. We refer to free participation by businesses in social media as Organic Social Media Marketing.
