- [Instructor] Before we get started I will be using a Windows PC for demo purposes. Now, as you understand the concepts let's start building our first data warehouse solution. The first step to download and install SQL Server is to go to the Microsoft website. You will start at this URL. We will be using the free community edition that doesn't require a license. If you scroll down a little bit on this website you will find that there are two free editions available. One is Developer, another one is an Express Edition. Developer Edition is meant for development and testing the SQL Server, so if you are a student or a working professional and want to learn and practice the SQL Server then Developer Edition would be the best choice as this contains almost all the features available in the paid edition.
