- [Instructor] You learn to drive a car after you have been trained for it. In a similar way, you need training and awareness to identify insider threats and comply with your program. Training and awareness for employees are essential to recognize insider threats early and prevent insider threats. The training has to be aligned with organizations' objectives and tailored to fit the employee's context. I've used the term employees to convey the message, but this group includes all organization personnel, consultants, and contractors. Training should be given as soon as a new employee joins the company, and refresher training must be carried out annually for existing employees. The training should include what constitutes insider threats, organizational policies, such as insider threat program policy, acceptable use policy, reporting an insider threat, and information handling procedures.
