What is visual communication?
- In the previous lesson, we discussed how infographics have historically bridged the gap between concept and understanding in a world where the written word was not accessible to everyone. This means that infographics have historically relied on visual communication to achieve understanding. Visual communication is the act of graphically representing information to efficiently and effectively create meaning. As society's evolved, this definition has evolved as well to include one final sentence: when necessary limited text is used to explicate the meaning. The key here is that text can be included, but only when absolutely necessary and only in very limited quantities. Take a walk around your neighborhood and you'll find that visual communication is everywhere.
