Now that you've understood the three types of stakeholders you're always dealing with, you need to have a plan for how to approach each of them. And the general rules are, well, with allies, you want to deepen alignment, be explicit about what you need. With blockers, you need to understand their concerns and mitigate them as much as you can. And with neutrals, your success will come from making what you're doing relevant and interesting to them. But a real plan obviously needs a lot more detail than just general rules. So to develop yours, thinking through a stakeholder grid is really valuable. You'll see it gets you to think about two important things. On the vertical axis, how much influence your stakeholders have on the outcome of your project. And on the horizontal, how mobilized they are.
