Scale, symmetry, and asymmetry in a book cover design

- [Instructor] Let's look at some issues of scale and arrangement as they relate to a book cover. Specifically "Moby Dick" or to give it is full title, "Moby-Dick; or, The whale." But we're going to use the simplified version. I'll be using title, author name and this stock vector graphic. This is my first version. Everything's centered, title at the top. Beneath that, the author in smaller type. The graphic bleeds off the bottom edge of the page. And it's okay but then I'm thinking well, what if we scale up the graphic dramatically and we make it so big that it bleeds off the edge of the page and becomes almost abstract? And in this case, I'm putting the author at the top and the title below in this nice area of space that is created by the sizing of the graphic, the sizing and placement of the graphic in this way. Well, the other thing I'm doing here is reversing out the graphic. I have to confess, I haven't read Moby…
