- [Instructor] Another useful tool for keeping track of the look and progress of a long document project is a book map. Basically, this is just a document with thumbnail images of all the pages in the book. It can be helpful for assessing how much work remains to be done, where certain elements reside, or just getting a feel for the project at a glance. And although you usually want a PDF of a book map to view it on screen and send to people, you need to use InDesign's print function to make it. Not the PDF export function, which doesn't allow you to output thumbnail images of the pages. But don't worry, you'll still end up with a PDF. So let's make a book map. Here's my document. It's 24 pages in 12 spreads, and I'd like to show those spreads in a book map. So I'll choose File, Print, and for printer I'll pick PostScript File.
