Growth mindset and inclusion

- Carol Dweck has this great quote about the importance of a growth mindset that states, "No matter "what your ability is, effort is what ignites "that ability and turns it into accomplishment." So I want you to ask yourself what are your efforts when it comes to leading the charge for diversity and inclusion? In this lesson, I want to share with you some of the ways to utilize the growth mindset theory to make, create, and maintain impactful diversity and inclusion initiatives, processes and overall cultural buy-in and execution. First, having a growth mindset will help you to navigate through all of the gazillion differences your team may have. Being able to effectively navigate through differences is a sure-fire way in encouraging your team to have a growth mindset about themselves and others. Why? A growth mindset is all about knowing that there's always room to learn and grow. That's important when it comes to diversity and inclusion. A great way of promoting this is to communicate the benefits constantly and consistently. Next, a growth mindset helps you to examine yourself fully. And that's important for women who are leading the charge in diversity and inclusion. Women like you. I challenge you to continuously search for and find ways to be even more inclusive, like reading books, articles, going to lunch with people who are different from you. No matter what you choose, the outcome will keep you on track in becoming an inclusive and confident leader. Lastly, having a growth mindset overall helps you to continuously evolve positively in your confidence, character, and most importantly relationships with people. And that's definitely important for you as a leader because, well, evolving keeps you and your business sustainable and thriving. A great way to evolve is to be open to ideas, diverse opinions, and open to learning and exploring new things. Being a diverse and inclusive leader is a sure-fire way to keep engagement and people a top priority. I challenge you to do or learn something new daily so you can lead with great character and confidence.
