Encouragement from within
- When I first started in the corporate world, I was a little uncertain. Okay, a lot uncertain and scared. Because of this, I sought out leadership advice from mentors, business leaders, and yes, sometimes friends, for encouragement to help me through my leadership journey. And to this day, I am so thankful to everyone who helped me along the way. Ultimately, over time, I realized at some point, I needed to not rely so heavily on others and rely on myself for encouragement. I want you to embrace being your own source of encouragement. Here are some tips for self-motivation as a woman leading the charge in the corporate world, entrepreneurship, or any part of your journey, because no matter what, success is ultimately up to you. First, and this is important, be your own cheerleader. I mean, really get in there and celebrate your accomplishments, big or small. Doing this will definitely give you the encouragement you need to keep moving in the right direction. Next, never compare yourself to your peers or other leaders. You are one of a kind and that's what make you so powerful and amazing. Use your uniqueness to your advantage by focusing on building your strengths. The more you focus on yourself, the more you and your team will be encouraged. Finally, always keep going no matter what. Encouragement is all about cheering yourself on even when you feel you can't. Do it in spite of. A great way to keep going is to encourage yourself with small attainable goals that boost your steam. No matter what those goals are, doing this will give you the boost you need to be and remain a confident leader. So take some time out to listen to yourself. Write down your dreams and goals and make a list of what you're good at doing, the things you think you need to develop, and start doing your research. Just keep going. You got this.
