Preparation
- [Instructor] There are four phases in every incident response, preparation, detection and analysis, containment, eradication and recovery, and the post-incident activity phases. Now in this section of the course, we're going to be focused on the preparation phase in depth. Now, most incident response methodologies are going to really emphasize the preparation phase, and this is for good reason. As Alexander Graham Bell famously stated, "Before anything else, preparation is the key to success." Now, if you're not well prepared before an incident occurs, you're already going to be days or weeks behind in trying to conduct a successful incident response. After all, if you haven't prepared by creating incident response policies, plans and procedures, then no one is going to know how the incident response should be conducted.
